Overview
About Association Of Consulting Engineers
ACE, now the Association for Consultancy and Engineering, is the trade association for UK professional consultancies and engineering companies working in social and economic infrastructure and the built environment. It represents its members to government and other stakeholders, and campaigns on infrastructure, buildings and place. The association works as a remote organisation, with a postal address in Leytonstone, London.
Its membership of around 300 to 400 businesses ranges from very large firms to specialists, and the association says members employ more than 60,000 people in the UK and 250,000 worldwide. Membership is open to any company with a registered office in the UK, with fees on a sliding scale by headcount. Its board and advisory groups include representatives of member firms such as WSP, Arup, Curtins, Hoare Lea and Arcadis.
What it offers
ACE runs advocacy groups on climate change, buildings and places, procurement and pipeline, and infrastructure and connectivity, operational groups on health and safety, people and skills, and legal and commercial matters, regional groups for Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, the Midlands and the North, and advisory councils for large consultancies and SMEs. Its Emerging Professionals programme supports early career engineers and consultants.
It publishes the ACE standard form agreements, including ACE 2019, ACE 2017 and ACE 2009 with Scottish versions, offers adjudication, and maintains a policy library and resource hub. It runs the Consultancy and Engineering Awards and a programme of events, and produces Infrastructure Intelligence, an editorially independent news site and magazine. The Environmental Industries Commission is its sister organisation, and ACE is a member of FIDIC, the CBI, the Construction Industry Council and the Construction Leadership Council.
