Arcadis is a global design, engineering and consultancy firm for natural and built assets. Founded in the Netherlands in 1888 to turn wetlands into farmland, it has grown largely through mergers and acquisitions and now employs around 34,000 people in more than 30 countries, working on more than 40,000 client projects a year. Its UK office is at 80 Fenchurch Street in the City of London.
The firm organises its work into four business areas: Places, Mobility, Resilience and Intelligence. Capabilities include cost and commercial management, programme management, design and engineering, asset management, business advisory, contract solutions, architecture and urbanism, and digital environmental, health, safety and sustainability services.
Highways and transport
Under its Connected Highways offer, Arcadis provides design and engineering, programme management, cost and commercial management, asset management, advisory and planning, mobility management and operations, intelligent transport systems design, systems integration, digital infrastructure and work on connected and autonomous vehicles for public infrastructure owners, operators and investors. Other mobility work covers rail and transit, airports and ports.
Recent UK appointments highlighted on its website include programme partner for Network Rail's TransPennine Route Upgrade, a place on Transport for London's PSF3 framework, the Yorkshire Water AMP8 technical services framework and asset investment decision-making for Severn Trent Water. It has also worked on a net zero carbon station at Cambridge South, the Dyson Cancer Centre and a major role for the UK Government Commercial Agency.
Arcadis holds an EcoVadis Platinum sustainability rating and reports gross revenues of 4.9 billion euros for 2025.
