The UK business provides integrated consultancy across buildings and urban areas, transport, water, energy and industry, mission critical infrastructure such as data centres, and building standards, including fire engineering and Building Safety Act support. Its clients include national government agencies, local authorities, developers and contractors.

Highways and transport

Highways work covers road and junction design with an emphasis on balancing earthworks, road, rail and river bridges, geotechnics and the reuse of site-won materials, drainage, vehicle restraint systems, traffic signs and road markings, utilities, road lighting, pavement engineering and road safety audits. Transport planners carry out modelling, appraisal and business cases, multi-modal studies and active travel schemes, and the environment team covers ecology, acoustics, landscape design and PAS 2080 carbon management. Sweco says its teams have drafted national design standards used across the industry, and it delivers design and build work with dedicated project managers and survey managers.

Highway and transport projects named on its website include the Cross Tay Link Road, the A92/A96 Haudagain improvement, M25 Junction 25, M2 Junction 5, A47 Tuddenham and the A47 Guyhirn roundabout, Manchester Active Modes, Glasgow Spaces for People and the Glasgow Airport Investment Area. Other UK projects include Bradford city centre regeneration, Clyde Waterfront and Renfrew Riverside, and pilot studies for Northumbrian Water.
