Its trenchless services include microtunnelling, pipe jacking, guided and unguided auger boring, horizontal directional drilling, timber headings, pipe bursting, box jacking and shaft sinking. Pipe jacking installs jacking pipes from 1,000mm to 1,800mm diameter in drives of up to 500m, while unguided auger boring installs pipes up to 1,220mm diameter. Microtunnelling suits gravity sewers and crossings beneath railways, motorways, roads and rivers, and can work below the water table. For box jacking the company can build bespoke tunnelling shields and anti-drag systems and carry out settlement calculations.

Ground engineering and projects

Ground engineering services cover grouting, leak sealing, void filling with Voidfoam and ground stabilisation, and the company also offers early contractor involvement and design work and plant hire. Named projects include a guided auger bore under-track crossing at Primrose Hill in north west London for J Murphy and Sons, installed during a weekend rail possession with a reception shaft sitting above an existing rail tunnel, and the Mushroom Green embankment flood relief scheme in the West Midlands, where it worked with Forkers and Mott MacDonald on a jacked 4.8m by 3.6m box culvert.
