Roadcraft Safety Products is a family run supplier of road studs, based at the Knightcott Industrial Estate in Banwell, near Weston-super-Mare. Together with 3M Traffic Safety Systems, it is a principal supplier and distributor of road studs across England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and continental Europe. The business is headed by managing director Warren Holbrook, son of founder Bob Holbrook, and has a team of 13 with more than 30 years of industry experience.
Its main product is the 301 inset road stud, a non depressible cast iron housing made in the UK and supplied with a 3M Series 290 reflecting road stud pre-fitted. The company says more than one million 301 housings have been sold. The 301/290 combination is installed using vertical milling equipment, is approved by the Department for Transport for use on all road surfaces, withstands snowploughing, and allows the 290 reflector to be replaced on site. Roadcraft has worked with 3M on the product for 12 years.
Other products
Safemark temporary road studs combine a prismatic reflector with a fluorescent body and are used in temporary traffic management schemes, with hot melt or self adhesive fixing. Non reflective pedestrian crossing studs in aluminium alloy or stainless steel meet BS 8442:2015 and come in plain or profiled finishes. Products are tested to BS EN 1463, and the site sets out the TSRGD 2016 and MCHW requirements for road studs.
Roadcraft is a long standing member of REMA and sits on its road markers and markings sub-committee. In 2018 it acquired the road stud assets of Fleming and Co. (Machinery) Ltd.
