About Rotapanel
Rotapanel is a Dutch manufacturer of dynamic displays for traffic and advertising, based at Plutoweg 2 in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands. Its traffic products are prismatic variable message signs, which use rotating prisms to show several different messages on a single sign, and the company says it has been developing this technology for more than half a century.
The range includes standard prismatic VMS, solar powered prismatic signs, and hybrid and multi-drive signs that can display 12 or more messages on one sign. Applications covered on the site include variable speed limit signs, hard shoulder lane signs and temporary speed limits. Rotapanel uses a patented self-lubricating rotation system that keeps the prisms flat and reduces the need for calibration and maintenance, and manufactures with CNC precision machining and inspections at several stages of production. Its RP-2000 controller series, in use since 1999, is engineered, manufactured and tested in the Netherlands.
The company has been authorised to apply the CE EN 12966 mark for variable message signs since 2008 and offers a ten year warranty on its prismatic signs. It states that more than 25,000 Rotapanel signs have been installed worldwide and that it has delivered signs to more than 120 countries. Project logos on its site include National Highways, Arup, WSP and ASFINAG. Rotapanel also supplies rotating display systems for advertising, and its website is published in English, Dutch, French, Spanish and German.
