Safecote Ltd

The company's background lies in agricultural by-products used in de-icing, which its executives helped develop in North America from the 1990s. Safecote's products are designed to work with rock or marine salt rather than replace it, reducing the environmental and asset maintenance effects of chloride salts while using existing supply infrastructure. In 1999 it began working with TRL for independent assessment of its products for the UK and European markets, and it has since worked with other technical organisations on analysis, quality control and product optimisation. It has joint supply agreements in place with salt producers.

Products and services

The liquid range is sold under the Supamix name, including Supamix ULTRA, BLU, CLEAR and KA, a low corrosion anti-icing and de-icing liquid. Liquids are stored in tanks and sprayed rather than spread, allowing targeted application. Alongside these the company offers solid de-icers, Safecote liquid additive, saturators, storage solutions, Kuper snow plough blades, the BM road service system, weather data, route optimisation, and tracking and auto-salting.

Safecote says more than 100 local authorities and maintenance contractors use its products and services, and it has recently expanded towards the rail sector and smaller businesses. It has announced a partnership with Econ to develop a new winter service solution.
