Its stated aim is to improve the efficiency of contracts by working with contractors at design stage to produce a working traffic management plan. This gives the contractor a benchmark for subcontractors to price against, the option of carrying out the traffic management themselves, and a design intended to improve safety for the travelling public and the workforce.

Services

Design is offered as two packages. The first is full involvement from pre-tender through planning and programming, with site visits, pre-design site reports and risk assessments, liaison with the police and highway authority, supervision of implementation and quality audits throughout the contract. The second turns a client's sketches into Chapter 8 compliant AutoCAD drawings in the client's own layout for approval. Drawings are supplied from A4 to A1 and in electronic and PDF formats.

Consultancy covers tender document review, plant, labour and materials spreadsheets for pricing, method statements, risk assessments, attendance at liaison meetings, written reports, setting up company procedures and independent audits of traffic management compliance. SCTMS also supplies qualified Traffic Safety and Control Officers with compliant vehicles and recording documentation, and runs a three day traffic management design course along with Lantra sector scheme assessments and training.
