Welcome to the Institute of Asphalt Technology.

The vision of The Institute of Asphalt Technology is to be a leading responsible membership body providing opportunities to support continuous vocational, technical, and professional development in all aspects of asphalt and its use, enabling our members to be recognised as competent individuals in the asphalt industry.

Our aims and objectives include:

  • To promote, encourage and support the development of knowledge and sustainable practice in all aspects of the asphalt industry.
  • To provide development opportunities in all asphalt related matters enabling the attainment of vocational and professional recognition.
  • To promote excellence in all matters allied to the asphalt industry, establishing facilities for communication for members and other key stakeholders.
  • To work in collaboration with others to proactively promote the benefits of the Institute.

Our Strategic Plan places members firmly at the centre of everything we do. Through enhanced professional development, mentoring, digital engagement, collaboration and outreach to future talent, we are creating opportunities for learning, connection and growth at every career stage. From the launch of our new Operational Grade of membership to Young Asphalt Professionals (YAP) Group and strengthened partnerships across the wider mineral products and infrastructure community, we are investing in the long-term resilience of both our Institute, our profession and our people.

The IAT has always been more than a professional body. It is a trusted community of experts, practitioners and future leaders who are passionate about advancing our industry.
