Todds Highway Maintenance

The company works for local authorities, major contractors and private and public sector clients, on contracts ranging from a few hundred pounds to multi million pound appointments. Its core service is cold milling, or road planing, supported by bobcat work and bobcat hire. It also carries out carriageway patching, reinstatement and estate road maintenance. Most of its work is in Darlington, Middlesbrough and the wider North East, but it also takes on motorway work across the UK. Its night time planing on the M6 was featured by ITV News in 2026.

Fleet

Todds runs a fleet of Wirtgen cold milling machines from the W50 RI and W100 RI through the W120 CFI to the W210 FI and W210 XP, with machine dimensions, weights and working specifications published on its website. Ancillary equipment includes low loaders, six and eight wheel tippers, articulated lorries and bobcats. The fleet is maintained in the company's purpose built workshop, and operators receive regular service training, with staff vetted to CITB and CSCS standards.

Recent work includes targeted patching and reinstatement on Whessoe Road in Darlington, and a similar programme on Thompson Street including work on Thompson Street Bridge. The company also sponsored the Darlington All Stars youth football team in 2003.
